A brand new screen print entitled “Your Radiant Light is Traversing Space and Time” created by Koichiro Takagi will be exclusively available on our site starting December 12th, 9:00 pm, JPN time.
Jet-Black Gallery will be releasing two versions of the new screen print “Your Radiant Light is Traversing Space and Time”, a regular edition, and a special edition. The regular edition is a piece screen-printed onto gold-flecked white paper using 6 colours. The special edition is a piece screen-printed onto holographic paper using 6 colours.

We recently sat down with the artist, Koichiro Takagi, to chat about his new pieces.
The Concept of the Art Piece
The world is still in a difficult situation, but it is starting to turn for the better. I hope that light will traverse space and time to lead us in the right direction, and then spread across the world.
The Making of the Art Piece
Screen printing is a type of printmaking that I am very familiar with. I am used to screen printing and have practical knowledge, like how to arrange layers, so I was able to enjoy the process of creating this artwork. Since the artwork was screen printed by a master screen printer instead of myself, I was able to try out expressing tiny halftone dots and sharp lines that I usually have difficulty when I’m printing alone.
The Difference Between the Regular One and the Special Edition
The difference between the regular edition and special edition is mainly the two different types of paper we used to make the prints.
- Regular Edition: White paper with tiny gold flecks, Edition 35
- Special Edition: Holographic paper, Edition 10
The paper used for the regular edition is not the white paper that we commonly see. It includes tiny gold flecks. Depending on the lighting, the gold flecks appear differently, and this uniqueness is one of the factors that makes this art piece more enjoyable.
The holographic paper used for the special edition shines in the full spectrum of colours depending on how the light hits it. Shiny or glittery things give us the special, magical feeling of childhood, but we aren’t exactly sure why. When the hologram so seamlessly meshes with the worldview depicted by Koichiro Takagi, that special feeling becomes even more permeating.
The editions of “Your Radiant Light is Traversing Space and Time” are 35 copies (Regular) and 10 copies (Special).
We released 20 pieces of the stenciled artwork “Believe Your Dream” created by Takagi in 2020 and they sold out in 2 days.

Koichiro Takagi
Koichiro Takagi is a Japanese artist, making artworks on the theme, “uncomfortableness”. He creates the bright colored mystic world by distorting and patchworking of the present and the past, the reality and the fantasy. Koichiro Takagi learned silk-screen printing in San Francisco then he moved to New York after graduation from school, and started his career as a painter. Enjoying quite different atmosphere from both the east and west coast of the U.S.A., he has been produced a lot of artworks. In mid 2005 he jumped back to his hometown, Tokyo. He joins many group exhibitions as well as holds some solo exhibitions. He is proficient in graphical design such as Illustration and stenciled spraypainting.
