The regular edition is a classy piece screen-printed with 7 monochromatic shades onto white paper including tiny gold flecks. The special edition is an exquisite piece screen-printed with 7 monochromatic shades onto hologram paper.
Colours are one of the most important elements in terms of art and are very relevant to Dawid’s works of art in particular. The toughest part for Dawid is to embody the colours that he has envisioned and this has led to some challenges in the process of creating the screen prints. Regarding the colours, Dawid describes his process below.
I use dark colours because that’s what makes those pictures come alive, that’s what invites the spirit of the unknown.
It isn’t just the process of selecting the right colours for him, it’s also injecting energy into the pictures. His artworks are dominated by ever-so-slightly differing shades of dark colours. It wasn’t so easy this time around for Dawid to translate his ideal colours onto the screen print. Seven different test prints were created in total, all using a different type of paper to get as close as possible to the ideal colours, and then the best one among them was selected.
Dawid Planeta never gives up in his pursuit of the ideal form of art. As a result, “It’s Already Yours” has become his highest quality screen print to date. Polish artist and graphic designer Dawid Planeta summons gigantic beasts in his series of grayscale illustrations set in a mysterious land. Titled Mini People in the Jungle, his work explores the artist’s personal experience with depression, visualizing the mental journey through dark times. Planeta explains, “It’s a story of a man descending into darkness and chaos in search of himself.”
